Christie acquires medical imaging company Luminetx

Visuals and projector specialist Christie has acquired medical imaging company Luminetx, Christie announced Jan 6.
Luminetx will market its VeinViewer under the new name Christie Medical.
The VeinViewer uses near-infrared imaging to detect a patient’s veins, and then project an image of those veins directly onto their skin. The device was developed to help doctors insert IVs in patients with hard to find veins.
“Christie’s goal is to diversify into emerging markets and we saw a unique opportunity to enter the medical imaging industry,” said George Pinho, president, Christie Medical.
